Migratory birds are attracted by the lights of big cities. They lose track, as do people looking for new roads in crowded metropolises. A series of works by Rafał Rudko with the joint title Light is not a simple story. Depending on your point of view and personal experience, you'll find there a glow, an announcement of change, or the title "light". The artist gives us full freedom: maybe he presents us with a gloomy world, or maybe there is peace in the illuminated night? The thick fog that covers the streets of New York or Tokyo has its charm. Hides dust, enveloping the world in an understatement. Rafał Rudko's works are set in an urban and very contemporary climate. Their main theme is urban glow. Nothing here is unambiguous: neither good nor bad; neither light nor darkness. The style of his paintings is in opposition to the minimalistic trend popular in watercolors. The artist raises controversy in the painting world: despite his young age, he presents a high level of work, choosing at the same time non-obvious themes, deeply rooted in the climate of large agglomerations and the cyberpunk trend. In Rafał Rudko, almost all the characters blend perfectly with the urban landscape and it is impossible to discover a clear narrative in them. As in life, the only sure thing is change.
